  • Baird JOHN LOGIE BAIRD A Pictorial Record of Early Television Development 1924-1938.
Introduction by Professor R.W. Burns. Foreword by Dr. Graham Winbolt. ISBN 1903053102. vii + 72. Paperback. Aprox 10x12 inches. 72 pages of illustrations.
Following a visit in 1989 to view the collection of historical documents put together by the Plessey Company at Ilford, Dr Winbolt was presented with various items, including an album of photographs relating to the early development of television, most of them of John Logie Baird and his pioneering work in the field. Having treasured the album for a decade or so, Dr Winbolt decided that the contents should be published and this book is the result. It is a faithful reproduction, with over 80 illustrations presented in the same order as they appeared in the original album with the captions virtually unaltered. Many of the photographs are rare and have never been published elsewhere. This edition is limited to 500 copies and will not be reprinted. 'I found it really interesting and some photographs I had never seen before...I was expecting regurgitation of previous works but I found this book to be a refreshing change to what is normally published. This is a book I will certainly treasure.' [John Richardson, John Logie Baird's grandson]
